And His words:

"The people of Lot rejected the messengers; when their brother Lot said to them, ‘Will you not be mindful of Allah? I am indeed a trustworthy messenger to you, so fear Allah and obey me. I ask of you no wage for this; my reward rests with none but the Lord of all worlds.’ ” ⦗al-Shuʿarāʾ: 160-127⦘.

And His words:

"The People of the Thicket rejected the messengers; when Shuʿayb said to them, ‘Will you not be mindful of Allah? I am indeed a trustworthy messenger to you, so fear Allah and obey me. I ask of you no wage for this; my reward rests with none but the Lord of all worlds.’ ” ⦗al-Shuʿarāʾ: 176-180⦘.

He—exalted is He—also said:

"Indeed, We have sent to you a messenger who is a witness against you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. But Pharaoh defied the messenger, so We seized him with a crushing grip.” ⦗al-Muzzammil: 15-16⦘.

And He—exalted is He—said:

"Before them the people of Noah denied, and so did the confederates after them. Every nation plotted against its messenger to seize him, and they argued with falsehood so as to invalidate the truth, so I seized them—how terrible was My punishment!” ⦗Ghāfir: 5⦘.

And He—exalted is He—said:

"We certainly sent Noah to his people, and he said, ‘My people, worship Allah; you have no deity but Him. Will you not then be mindful of Him?’ ” ⦗al-Muʾminūn: 23⦘.

{كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ - إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ - إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ - وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ} [الشعراء: ١٦٠ - ١٢٧] . وَقَوْلُهُ: {كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ - إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ - إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ - فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ - وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ} [الشعراء: ١٧٦ - ١٨٠] . وَقَالَ - تَعَالَى -: {إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولًا شَاهِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًا - فَعَصَى فِرْعَوْنُ الرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَاهُ أَخْذًا وَبِيلًا} [المزمل: ١٥ - ١٦] . وَقَالَ - تَعَالَى -: {كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَالْأَحْزَابُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ وَهَمَّتْ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ بِرَسُولِهِمْ لِيَأْخُذُوهُ وَجَادَلُوا بِالْبَاطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُوا بِهِ الْحَقَّ فَأَخَذْتُهُمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ} [غافر: ٥] . وَقَالَ - تَعَالَى -: {وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ يَاقَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَهٍ غَيْرُهُ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ} [المؤمنون: ٢٣] .
