—while they maintain that the words “except those who do wrong” ⦗al-ʿAnkabūt: 46⦘ refer to the Jews.
They advance many such readings of the Quran, just as they do with the Torah, the Gospel, and the Psalms—interpretations that amount to wrenching the words from their proper contexts, deviating with regard to Allah’s signs, and attributing to His prophets what is plainly false to anyone who reflects. The groundlessness of these claims becomes evident from several angles.
First: Allah says,
“We certainly sent Our messengers with clear proofs, and We sent down with them the Scripture and the balance so that people might uphold justice; and We sent down iron, in which there is severe might and benefits for mankind, so that Allah may know who supports Him and His messengers though unseen. Surely Allah is Strong, Mighty.” ⦗al-Ḥadīd: 25⦘
The phrase “We sent Our messengers” ⦗al-Ḥadīd: 25⦘ is a plural construct that includes everyone whom Allah, exalted be He, has ever sent.
Second: Those most entitled to this designation are the messengers whom the Quran names explicitly, as in His words:
“We have revealed to you just as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him; and We revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron and Solomon; and We gave David the Psalms; and messengers We have already related to you, and messengers We have not related to you; and Allah spoke to Moses directly—messengers bringing good tidings and warnings, so that people would have no argument against Allah after the messengers. Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.” ⦗al-Nisāʾ: 163-165⦘
