but rather it is a universal ruling that applies to both the earliest and the later generations. For that reason Allah, exalted be He, said:

“Who could have a better religion than one who submits his whole being to Allah, acts with excellence, and follows the creed of Abraham, the upright? And Allah took Abraham as an intimate friend.” [al-Nisāʾ 125]

And He, exalted be He, said:

“They say, ‘None shall enter the Garden unless he be a Jew or a Christian.’ Such are their wishful fancies. Say: ‘Produce your proof, if you are truthful.’ Indeed, whoever submits his face to Allah while excelling in good deeds—his reward is with his Lord; no fear will come upon them, nor shall they grieve.” [al-Baqarah 111]
