Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

his descendants, and He records that he was commanded to be among the Muslims.

As for the Close Friend of Allah—Abraham—the Exalted says:
“And when Abraham, together with Ishmael, was raising the foundations of the House, they prayed: ‘Our Lord, accept this from us. You are indeed the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.’”
[al-Baqarah 127]
(127)

“Our Lord, make us both submissive to You, and from our offspring raise a community that is submissive to You. Show us our rites and turn toward us in mercy; You are the Ever-Relenting, the Merciful.”
[al-Baqarah 128]

He, exalted be He, also says:
“Who would turn away from the creed of Abraham except one who fools himself? We indeed chose him in this world, and in the Hereafter he shall be among the righteous.”
[al-Baqarah 130]
(130)

“When his Lord said to him, ‘Submit!’ he replied, ‘I have submitted to the Lord of all worlds.’”
[al-Baqarah 131]
(131)

“Abraham enjoined this upon his sons, and so did Jacob: ‘My sons, Allah has chosen the religion for you; so do not die except in a state of Islam.’”
[al-Baqarah 132]

Thus, the Exalted has informed us that He commanded the Friend to embrace Islam, that Abraham declared, “I have submitted to the Lord of all worlds,” and that both Abraham and Jacob counselled their sons not to die except as Muslims.

He, exalted is He, says:
“Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian; rather, he was an upright monotheist, a Muslim, and he was never one of the polytheists.”
[Āl ʿImrān 67]
(67)

“The people who have the strongest claim to Abraham are those who followed him—and this Prophet—and those who believe. Allah is the Protector of the believers.”
[Āl ʿImrān 68]

And the Exalted said concerning Joseph, the Truthful, son of Jacob, that he said
