As for His—Exalted is He—statement:
“We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’an so that you may understand” (Yusuf 2);

and His statement:
“Had We made it a non-Arabic Qur’an, they would have said, ‘Why are its verses not clarified in detail? A non-Arabic message addressed to Arabs?’” (Fussilat 44);

and His statement:
“Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur’an” (al-Zukhruf 3),

all of this proclaims Allah’s grace upon His servants. The Arabic language is the most complete of tongues and the most eloquent in conveying meaning, so the revelation of the Book in that language is a far greater blessing for creation than if it had been revealed in any other. The Qur’an was addressed first to the Arabs, that they might comprehend it; then whoever learns their language comprehends it as they did; and those unfamiliar with it have it translated for them by someone who knows the language. Thus the proof was established against the Arabs first, and the favor was bestowed upon them first, because they grasped its meanings before anyone else.

He—Exalted is He—also says:
“So We have made it easy in your tongue so that they may take heed” (al-Dukhan 58).
