he said, “O Allah, You are my Lord; from Your Spirit I have come forth, and by Your Word You created me. I have not approached them of my own accord.” He then related the rest of the report.

Allah, exalted is He, says:
“And she who guarded her chastity—We breathed into her of Our Spirit, and We made her and her son a sign for all peoples.” ⦗Al-Anbiya 21:91⦘

He, exalted, also says:
“And Mary, daughter of Imran, who guarded her chastity; We breathed into it of Our Spirit.” ⦗Al-Tahrim 66:12⦘

This accords with His words, exalted be He:
“So We sent to her Our Spirit, who appeared to her as a well-proportioned man.” ⦗Maryam 19:17⦘

“She said, ‘Indeed I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, if you are God-fearing.’” ⦗Maryam 19:18⦘

“He said, ‘I am only a messenger from your Lord.’” ⦗Maryam 19:19⦘

The point here is that, whether they believe Muhammad or deny him, the falsity of their religion follows in either case; for if he is a true prophet, he has conveyed the message from Allah

قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي وَأَنَا مِنْ رُوحِكَ خَرَجْتُ وَبِكَلِمَتِكَ خَلَقْتَنِي وَلَمْ آتِهِمْ مِنْ تِلْقَاءِ نَفْسِي وَذَكَرَ تَمَامَ الْحَدِيثِ. وَقَدْ قَالَ - تَعَالَى -: {وَالَّتِي أَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا فِيهَا مِنْ رُوحِنَا وَجَعَلْنَاهَا وَابْنَهَا آيَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ} [الأنبياء: ٩١] وَقَالَ - تَعَالَى -: {وَمَرْيَمَ ابْنَتَ عِمْرَانَ الَّتِي أَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا فِيهِ مِنْ رُوحِنَا} [التحريم: ١٢] فَهَذَا يُوَافِقُ قَوْلَهُ - تَعَالَى -: {فَأَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهَا رُوحَنَا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهَا بَشَرًا سَوِيًّا} [مريم: ١٧] (١٧) {قَالَتْ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِالرَّحْمَنِ مِنْكَ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَقِيًّا} [مريم: ١٨] (١٨) {قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَنَا رَسُولُ رَبِّكِ} [مريم: ١٩] . وَالْمَقْصُودُ هُنَا أَنَّهُمْ سَوَاءٌ صَدَّقُوا مُحَمَّدًا أَوْ كَذَّبُوهُ، فَإِنَّهُ يَلْزَمُ بُطْلَانُ دِينِهِمْ عَلَى التَّقْدِيرَيْنِ، فَإِنَّهُ إِنْ كَانَ نَبِيًّا صَادِقًا فَقَدْ بَلَّغَ عَنِ اللَّهِ
