and this argument is groundless whether they accept him or deny him: if they accept him, their religion collapses, and if they deny him, their religion likewise collapses. For should they accept him, it is already known that he summoned them—and indeed every inhabitant of the earth—to believe in him and obey him, just as Jesus, Moses, and the other messengers had summoned the people. It is also known that he annulled the doctrines they maintain, such as their creed of “union” and the like, and that he declared them unbelievers on more than one occasion. For this reason, the mere admission that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah—even if one were to say he was sent only to the Arabs—necessarily nullifies the religion of the Christians, the Jews, and every creed that conflicts with his. Whoever is a messenger of Allah cannot lie about Allah, and it is a matter of record that Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—called the Christians and Jews, just as he called others, to believe in him and obey him, branded as unbelievers all who refused, and threatened them with the Fire. This is attested by mass-transmitted reports known to both laypeople and scholars alike. The Qur’an is replete with verses to that effect, such as the Almighty’s words:

“Those who disbelieved among the People of the Book and the idolaters were not about to desist until the clear proof came to them”

وَهَذِهِ حُجَّةٌ دَاحِضَةٌ سَوَاءً صَدَّقُوهُ أَوْ كَذَّبُوهُ، فَإِنْ صَدَّقُوهُ بَطَلَ دِينُهُمْ وَإِنْ كَذَّبُوهُ بَطَلَ دِينُهُمْ، فَإِنَّهُمْ إِنْ صَدَّقُوهُ فَقَدْ عُلِمَ أَنَّهُ دَعَاهُمْ وَجَمِيعَ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ إِلَى الْإِيمَانِ بِهِ وَطَاعَتِهِ كَمَا دَعَا الْمَسِيحُ وَمُوسَى وَغَيْرُهُمَا مِنَ الرُّسُلِ وَأَنَّهُ أَبْطَلَ مَا هُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الِاتِّحَادِ وَغَيْرِهِ وَكَفَّرَهُمْ فِي غَيْرِ مَوْضِعٍ وَلِهَذَا كَانَ مُجَرَّدُ التَّصْدِيقِ بِأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَلَوْ إِلَى الْعَرَبِ يُوجِبُ بُطْلَانَ دِينِ النَّصَارَى وَالْيَهُودِ وَكُلِّ دِينٍ يُخَالِفُ دِينَهُ، فَإِنَّ مَنْ كَانَ رَسُولًا لِلَّهِ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَكْذِبُ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَمُحَمَّدٌ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَدْ عُلِمَ مِنْهُ أَنَّهُ دَعَا النَّصَارَى وَالْيَهُودَ إِلَى الْإِيمَانِ بِهِ وَطَاعَتِهِ كَمَا دَعَا غَيْرَهُمْ وَأَنَّهُ كَفَّرَ مَنْ لَمْ يُؤْمِنْ بِهِ وَوَعَدَهُ النَّارَ وَهَذَا مُتَوَاتِرٌ عَنْهُ تَوَاتُرًا تَعْلَمُهُ الْعَامَّةُ وَالْخَاصَّةُ وَفِي الْقُرْآنِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ مَا يَكْثُرُ ذِكْرُهُ كَمَا قَالَ - تَعَالَى -: {لَمْ يَكُنِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنْفَكِّينَ حَتَّى تَأْتِيَهُمُ الْبَيِّنَةُ} [البينة: ١] (١) {رَسُولٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ يَتْلُو صُحُفًا مُطَهَّرَةً} [البينة: ٢] (٢) {فِيهَا كُتُبٌ قَيِّمَةٌ} [البينة: ٣] (٣) {وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ إِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَةُ} [البينة: ٤] (٤) {وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَذَلِكَ دِينُ الْقَيِّمَةِ} [البينة: ٥] (٥) {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أُولَئِكَ هُمْ شَرُّ الْبَرِيَّةِ} [البينة: ٦] (٦) {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ أُولَئِكَ هُمْ خَيْرُ الْبَرِيَّةِ} [البينة: ٧] (٧) {جَزَاؤُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِيَ رَبَّهُ} [البينة: ٨]
