Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-Masīh - Ibn Taimiya - (1/436)

And His statement:

“Glory be to the One who carried His servant by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque” ⦗al-Isrāʾ 17:1⦘;

and His statement:

“so that We might show him some of Our signs” ⦗al-Isrāʾ 17:1⦘.

Likewise, His words:

“We have made the night and the day two signs …” up to His words, “… so that you may seek bounty from your Lord and know the number of years and the reckoning” ⦗al-Isrāʾ 17:12⦘.

And His words:

“He is the One who made the sun a radiance and the moon a light and determined its phases so that you may know the number of years and the reckoning” ⦗Yūnus 10:5⦘.

In all of this there are additional wisdoms as well.

Likewise, His statement:

“So Pharaoh’s household picked him up so that he might become for them an enemy and a source of grief” ⦗al-Qaṣaṣ 28:8⦘.

Even if this is the lām of outcome (lām al-ʿāqibah), that outcome is not restricted to this alone; rather, within it are acts of kindness toward Moses, his upbringing, and other wisdoms besides.

The same applies to His words:

“In this way their partners made the killing of their children seem attractive to many of the idolaters, so that they would destroy them and confound them in their religion” ⦗al-Anʿām 6:137⦘.

وَقَوْلُهُ: {سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَى بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلًا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى} [الإسراء: ١] . وَقَوْلُهُ: {لِنُرِيَهُ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا} [الإسراء: ١] . وَكَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ: {وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ آيَتَيْنِ} [الإسراء: ١٢] إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: {لِتَبْتَغُوا فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَلِتَعْلَمُوا عَدَدَ السِّنِينَ وَالْحِسَابَ} [الإسراء: ١٢] . وَكَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ: {هُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ ضِيَاءً وَالْقَمَرَ نُورًا وَقَدَّرَهُ مَنَازِلَ لِتَعْلَمُوا عَدَدَ السِّنِينَ وَالْحِسَابَ} [يونس: ٥] . وَفِي ذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ حِكَمٌ أُخْرَى، وَكَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ: {فَالْتَقَطَهُ آلُ فِرْعَوْنَ لِيَكُونَ لَهُمْ عَدُوًّا وَحَزَنًا} [القصص: ٨] . وَإِنْ كَانَتْ هَذِهِ لَامَ الْعَاقِبَةِ، فَلَيْسَتِ الْعَاقِبَةُ مُنْحَصِرَةً فِي ذَلِكَ، بَلْ فِي ذَلِكَ مِنَ الْإِحْسَانِ إِلَى مُوسَى وَتَرْبِيَتِهِ وَغَيْرِ ذَلِكَ حِكَمٌ أُخْرَى، وَمِثْلَ قَوْلِهِ: {وَكَذَلِكَ زَيَّنَ لِكَثِيرٍ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ قَتْلَ أَوْلَادِهِمْ شُرَكَاؤُهُمْ لِيُرْدُوهُمْ وَلِيَلْبِسُوا عَلَيْهِمْ دِينَهُمْ} [الأنعام: ١٣٧] .
