Allah, Exalted is He, also says:
“Have they not travelled through the earth and seen how those before them ended? Those nations were more numerous than them, mightier in strength, and left deeper traces upon the land, yet all that they had amassed did not avail them. When their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they exulted in the knowledge they already had; then the very thing they had been ridiculing engulfed them. So when they beheld Our might, they cried, ‘We believe in Allah alone, and we disavow all that we once associated with Him.’ But their belief, once they had seen Our might, was of no benefit to them. Such is the way of Allah that has always taken its course with His servants, and it was then that the disbelievers were ruined.” ⦗Q 40:82-85⦘
He, Exalted is He, says:
“The people of Noah rejected the truth before them, as did ‘Ād, Pharaoh of the tent-pegs, Thamūd, the people of Lot, and the companions of the Thicket—those were the confederates. Not one of them but denied the messengers, so My retribution became inevitable.” ⦗Q 38:12⦘
He, the Exalted, also says:
“No reminder freshly revealed from the Most Merciful ever comes to them without their turning away from it. They have already denied, but soon the news of what they used to mock will come upon them.” ⦗Q 26:5⦘
Thus He informed that, in the future, those who belied the Quran would be confronted with the very events it foretold and at which they had scoffed. He made clear that His report is true, for the occurrence of the event matches the report exactly—and so it proved to be. Similar to this is His saying:
“We shall show them Our signs on the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is witness over all things?” ⦗Q 41:53⦘
