Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

—a support that no one is able to withstand. In the same vein, the prophets before him had already declared that a false claimant will never have his affair brought to completion by Allah, nor will he be granted victory or backing; this, then, is something known from every angle. For that very reason the Almighty commanded us to take heed of what He did with the past nations: how He reserved the ultimate outcome for the prophets and their followers, and how He took vengeance on those who denied and disobeyed them.

Allah, Exalted is He, says:

“Indeed, We shall surely help Our messengers and those who believe, in the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses stand.” ⦗Q 40:51⦘

He also says:

“Our Word has already gone forth to Our servants, the messengers: they are the ones who will certainly be helped, and verily Our forces will be the victors.” ⦗Q 37:171 – 173⦘

And He says:

“Before them the people of Noah rejected the truth, as did the parties after them. Every community plotted against its messenger to seize him, and they argued with falsehood so as to undermine the truth; so I seized them—how severe was My retribution!” ⦗Q 40:5⦘

And He, the Exalted, says:

“Allah will surely help those who help His cause; indeed, Allah is All-Powerful, All-Mighty. Those who, when We establish them in the land, establish prayer, give the prescribed alms, enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong. With Allah lies the outcome of all affairs. If they belie you, then before them the people of Noah, ‘Ād, Thamūd, the people of Abraham, the people of Lot, and the inhabitants of Midian also belied, and Moses too was denied. Yet I granted the disbelievers respite, then I seized them—how dreadful was My rejection! So many a town We destroyed while it was doing wrong: it now lies overturned on its roofs, and many a deserted well and lofty palace. Have they not travelled through the land so that hearts might be given to reason with, or ears to hear with? For surely it is not the eyes that go blind, but the hearts within the breasts.” ⦗Q 22:40 – 46⦘

تَأْيِيدًا لَا يُمْكِنُ أَحَدًا مُعَارَضَتُهُ، وَهَكَذَا أَخْبَرَتِ الْأَنْبِيَاءُ قَبْلَهُ أَنَّ الْكَذَّابَ لَا يُتِمُّ اللَّهُ أَمْرَهُ وَلَا يَنْصُرُهُ وَلَا يُؤَيِّدُهُ فَصَارَ هَذَا مَعْلُومًا مِنْ هَذِهِ الْجِهَاتِ ; وَلِهَذَا أَمَرَ سُبْحَانَهُ أَنْ نَعْتَبِرَ بِمَا فَعَلَهُ فِي الْأُمَمِ الْمَاضِيَةِ مِنْ جَعْلِ الْعَاقِبَةِ لِلْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَأَتْبَاعِهِمْ، وَانْتِقَامِهِ مِمَّنْ كَذَّبَهُمْ وَعَصَاهُمْ. قَالَ تَعَالَى: {إِنَّا لَنَنْصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَيَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْأَشْهَادُ} [غافر: ٥١] . وَقَالَ تَعَالَى: {وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا الْمُرْسَلِينَ - إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ الْمَنْصُورُونَ - وَإِنَّ جُنْدَنَا لَهُمُ الْغَالِبُونَ} [الصافات: ١٧١ - ١٧٣] . وَقَالَ تَعَالَى: {كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَالْأَحْزَابُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ وَهَمَّتْ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ بِرَسُولِهِمْ لِيَأْخُذُوهُ وَجَادَلُوا بِالْبَاطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُوا بِهِ الْحَقَّ فَأَخَذْتُهُمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ} [غافر: ٥] . وَقَالَ تَعَالَى: {وَلَيَنْصُرَنَّ اللَّهُ مَنْ يَنْصُرُهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَقَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ - الَّذِينَ إِنْ مَكَّنَّاهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتَوُا الزَّكَاةَ وَأَمَرُوا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَنَهَوْا عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَلِلَّهِ عَاقِبَةُ الْأُمُورِ - وَإِنْ يُكَذِّبُوكَ فَقَدْ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَعَادٌ وَثَمُودُ وَقَوْمُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَقَوْمُ لُوطٍ وَأَصْحَابُ مَدْيَنَ وَكُذِّبَ مُوسَى فَأَمْلَيْتُ لِلْكَافِرِينَ ثُمَّ أَخَذْتُهُمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ - فَكَأَيِّنْ مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَاهَا وَهِيَ ظَالِمَةٌ فَهِيَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَى عُرُوشِهَا وَبِئْرٍ مُعَطَّلَةٍ وَقَصْرٍ مَشِيدٍ - أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَتَكُونَ لَهُمْ قُلُوبٌ يَعْقِلُونَ بِهَا أَوْ آذَانٌ يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَا فَإِنَّهَا لَا تَعْمَى الْأَبْصَارُ وَلَكِنْ تَعْمَى الْقُلُوبُ الَّتِي فِي الصُّدُورِ} [الحج: ٤٠ - ٤٦] .
