“When you recite the Quran, seek refuge with Allah from Satan the Accursed. He has no authority over those who believe and who rely upon their Lord; his authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who associate others with Him. And when We substitute one verse for another—and Allah knows best what He sends down—they say, ‘You are but a fabricator.’ No indeed; most of them do not know. There was in Mecca a non-Arab slave owned by one of the Quraysh, and some people alleged that Muhammad was learning from that foreigner. Allah made it plain that this is an obvious lie: the man was non-Arab, incapable of uttering a single word of this Arabic Quran, while Muhammad—peace and blessings be upon him—was an Arab who knew nothing of foreign tongues.
