to this wicked people. Then he widened the scope of his mission. Accordingly, when he sent forth his disciples, as the Gospel reports, he said: “Just as my Father has sent me, so I am sending you; whoever receives you has received me.” He also said: “My Father sent me, and I am sending you.” And he said: “As I have done with you, so do you with the servants of Allah: journey through the lands and baptize the people in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Let none of you own two garments, nor carry silver or gold, nor staff, nor spear,” and similar instructions. All of this is found in the Gospels that are in their hands, showing first the restriction of the call and then its universalization, and the Messiah is truthful in all of it. How, then, can they deem it permissible to deny in the Gospel something analogous that is ascribed to the Messiah himself?
