of the Messiah—peace be upon him—his sending them to the nations, his arrival with the Gospel, their denial that Moses—peace be upon him—came with the Torah, and their denial that he observed the Sabbath. The transmission of the Prophet Muhammad’s teachings—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—is relatively recent, and those who conveyed it are many times, indeed many, many times, more numerous than the transmitters of the Messiah’s religion, and exponentially more than those through whom the religion of Moses—peace be upon him—has reached us. The community of Muhammad—peace and blessings be upon him—has always been great in number, spread throughout the East and the West, and within it there have always been people openly upholding the religion and aided against their enemies. This contrasts with the Children of Israel, whose dominion collapsed midway when the Temple was first destroyed after David—peace be upon him—and whose transmitters dwindled until, it is said, only one man remained who preserved the Torah.
As for the Messiah—peace be upon him—only a small group transmitted his religion, yet the Christians claim those individuals were infallible messengers of God like Abraham and Moses. We shall address this, God willing, when we reach it. Our purpose here is to expose anyone who alleges that Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—used to say he was sent only to the pagan Arabs. Such a person is in the utmost ignorance and misguidance, or in the utmost obstinacy and defiance. His ignorance and stubbornness are even greater than those of someone who denies that the Prophet enjoined ritual purity, the full bath after major impurity, and the prohibition of wine and pork—indeed, greater than one who denies what is mass-transmitted about the Messiah and Moses, peace be upon them both.
From all this it becomes clear how false is their claim: “We know that he was not sent to us, but only to the Arabs of the Age of Ignorance.”
