Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

Allah the Exalted says concerning the Friend (Abraham):

“Recite to them the story of Abraham
when he said to his father and his people, ‘What do you worship?’
They answered, ‘We worship idols and remain devoted to them continually.’
He said, ‘Do they hear you when you supplicate,
or do they benefit or harm you?’
They replied, ‘No, but we found our forefathers doing the same.’
He said, ‘Have you considered what you have been worshipping—
you and your earliest forefathers?
Truly they are enemies to me, except the Lord of all worlds,
who created me, and it is He who guides me;
who gives me to eat and drink;
and when I fall ill, it is He who heals me;
who will cause me to die and then bring me back to life;
and from whom I hope that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment.
My Lord, grant me wisdom and join me with the righteous;
grant me a reputation of truth among later generations;
place me among the heirs of the Garden of Bliss;
and forgive my father—he was indeed among the straying—
and do not disgrace me on the Day they are resurrected,
the Day when neither wealth nor children will avail,
except for him who comes to Allah with a sound heart.
Paradise will be brought near for the God-fearing,
and Hell will be exposed for the deviant,
and it will be said to them, ‘Where are those you used to worship
apart from Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?’
Then they will be hurled into it—both they and the deviators,
and all the hosts of Iblis together.
There, disputing within it, they will say,
‘By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error
when we equated you with the Lord of all worlds.
None led us astray except the criminals.’”

(al-Shuʿarāʾ 26:69–99).

Thus, the Exalted informs us that Abraham declared himself an enemy to everything they worship except the Lord of all worlds, and He also informs us that they will say on the Day of Resurrection:

“By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error
when we equated you with the Lord of all worlds.”

(al-Shuʿarāʾ 26:97–98).
