“…And so We have appointed for every prophet an enemy—devils from among humankind and the jinn—who inspire one another with polished, deceptive words. Had your Lord willed, they would not have done it. So leave them and what they fabricate.” (Qur’an 6:112) (112)
“Thus do We permit it, that the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter may incline toward it, be pleased with it, and persist in whatever sins they are committing.” (Qur’an 6:113) (113)
“Shall I seek a judge other than Allah, when it is He who has sent down to you the Book explained in detail? Those to whom We gave the Scripture know it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so never be among the doubters.” (Qur’an 6:114) (114)
“The word of your Lord has been completed in truth and justice. None can alter His words; He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.” (Qur’an 6:115)
He, the Exalted, also said:
“And thus We have appointed for every prophet an enemy from among the criminals; but your Lord suffices as a Guide and a Helper.” (Qur’an 25:31)
Those who hold notions that contradict part of what the messengers have conveyed fall into three groups:
- Ahl al-takhyīl, the imaginative fabricators among the atheistic philosophers and the Bāṭinis. They claim that the messengers presented teachings about faith in Allah and the Last Day that actually run contrary to ultimate reality, merely in order to conjure up images useful for the general populace; they even regard this as a virtue of the messengers.
