Jāmiʿ ibn Shaddād said:
“There was a man among us named Ṭāriq who related:
‘I encountered the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—in Medina, and he asked, “Do you have anything for sale?”
We replied, “This camel.”
He said, “For how much?”
We answered, “For such-and-such a wasq of dates.”
He took the camel by its halter and walked off toward Medina. We said to one another, “We have just sold to a man we do not even know.”
A woman travelling with us remarked, “I guarantee the price of the camel. I have just seen a face that shone like the full moon on its brightest night; he will not wrong you.”
The next morning a man arrived with dates and said, “I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah to you. He instructs you to eat from these dates and to measure out the dates until you have received your full due.” So we did.’”}
