And He, Exalted, has said:

“The Jews say, ‘Ezra is the son of Allah,’ while the Christians say, ‘The Messiah is the son of Allah.’ That is only a word issuing from their mouths; they imitate the statement of those who disbelieved before them. May Allah destroy them—how utterly deluded they are!
They have taken their scholars and monks as lords instead of Allah, as well as the Messiah, son of Mary, though they were commanded to worship only one God. There is no deity except Him. Transcendent is He above whatever they associate with Him.
They seek to extinguish Allah’s light with their mouths, but Allah insists on perfecting His light, even though the disbelievers detest it.” ⦗al-Tawbah 30–32⦘
