Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-Masīh - Ibn Taimiya - (1/338)

And the Exalted has said in Sūrah al-Nisāʾ:

“O People of the Scripture, do not go to extremes in your religion, and do not say about Allah anything but the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, His word which He conveyed to Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and do not say, ‘Three.’ Desist—that is better for you. Allah is only One God. Transcendent is He above having a child. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, and Allah is sufficient as a Guardian.
The Messiah would never disdain to be a servant of Allah, nor would the angels who are near to Him; and whoever disdains His worship and grows arrogant, He will gather them all to Himself.
As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will give them their full rewards and increase them out of His bounty; but those who were disdainful and arrogant, He will punish with a painful torment, and they shall find for themselves, apart from Allah, neither protector nor helper.” ⦗al-Nisāʾ 171–173⦘

And He, Exalted, has said:

“Fight those among the People of the Scripture who do not believe in Allah or the Last Day, who do not forbid what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden, and who do not embrace the religion of truth, until they pay the jizyah by their own hands in a state of submission.” ⦗al-Tawbah 29⦘

وَقَالَ تَعَالَى فِي سُورَةِ النِّسَاءِ: {يَاأَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَا تَغْلُوا فِي دِينِكُمْ وَلَا تَقُولُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْحَقَّ إِنَّمَا الْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَكَلِمَتُهُ أَلْقَاهَا إِلَى مَرْيَمَ وَرُوحٌ مِنْهُ فَآمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ وَلَا تَقُولُوا ثَلَاثَةٌ انْتَهُوا خَيْرًا لَكُمْ إِنَّمَا اللَّهُ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ سُبْحَانَهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلًا - لَنْ يَسْتَنْكِفَ الْمَسِيحُ أَنْ يَكُونَ عَبْدًا لِلَّهِ وَلَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ وَمَنْ يَسْتَنْكِفْ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِ وَيَسْتَكْبِرْ فَسَيَحْشُرُهُمْ إِلَيْهِ جَمِيعًا - فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَيُوَفِّيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ اسْتَنْكَفُوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا فَيُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا} [النساء: ١٧١ - ١٧٣] . وَقَالَ تَعَالَى: {قَاتِلُوا الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَلَا بِالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَلَا يُحَرِّمُونَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَلَا يَدِينُونَ دِينَ الْحَقِّ مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ حَتَّى يُعْطُوا الْجِزْيَةَ عَنْ يَدٍ وَهُمْ صَاغِرُونَ} [التوبة: ٢٩] .
