—by uprooting them altogether as He had done with the earlier deniers. The very signs they had demanded would have triggered just such an exterminating punishment, like the one that wiped out the nations before them, for He says, “Are your disbelievers any better than those ˹who perished before˺?” [Q 54:43].

Therefore, His choice not to send what would necessitate a sweeping punishment—while still granting signs that establish the proof and make the path unmistakably clear—was the perfection of wisdom and mercy. The miracles He did provide secured the utmost good, benefit, guidance, clarification, and conclusive argument against the unbelievers, whereas what He withheld warded off the annihilating, all-encompassing chastisement. This postponement ensured that the bulk of the community would remain alive until they could repent, believe, and find guidance.

Moreover, in sending Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, as the Seal of the Messengers, there lay a far-reaching wisdom and an outpouring of favors unmatched in the mission of any prophet before him—peace be upon them all.
