For this very reason, the first to rally around them are usually the weaker members of society. Reflecting on these matters—and on Allah’s consistent way with His loyal friends and truthful prophets, as well as with the enemies of Allah and the lying pretenders to prophecy—makes it incumbent to distinguish between the two camps and between the proofs that attest a genuine prophet and the proofs brandished by a false claimant.

The trials endured by the Prophet and the believers, followed by the final victory allotted to them, are mentioned in numerous passages. Allah the Exalted says:

“Messengers before you were also rejected, but they remained patient in the face of denial and harm until Our help reached them. No one can change the words of Allah, and there has already come to you some news of those messengers.” ⦗Al-Anʿam 6:34⦘

And He says:

“Or did you think you would enter Paradise while there had not yet come to you the like of what befell those who passed away before you? Hardship and adversity assailed them, and they were shaken so severely that even the Messenger and those who believed with him cried out, ‘When will the help of Allah come?’ Indeed, the help of Allah is near.” ⦗Al-Baqarah 2:214⦘

And He, exalted be He, also says:
