The second group said:
“We know with self-evident certainty that He carried this out for the sake of confirming the messenger—just as in the cited analogy. This, then, is the other opinion. It is the approach adopted by Abu al-Hasan al-Ashʿarī in his Dictations, and it is likewise the method of Abu al-Maʿālī (al-Juwaynī) and his followers.”
