or making the same body exist in two places at once. For this reason their opponents invoked the point as proof for overturning their doctrine, saying:
“Their claim undermines self-evident knowledge and shuts the door to any certainty about the truthfulness of the messengers.
“If you allow that the Lord may do absolutely anything, then you must also allow that mountains might suddenly turn into ruby, that steam could become milk, and other things whose impossibility is known by sheer necessity. You must likewise allow that He could create miracles at the hands of impostors.”
Our purpose here is not to answer those objectors or to spell out the flaws in their argument. The point is that, if the objection has any weight at all, it only tells against the view of those people; it does nothing to undermine the facts we necessarily know from the indications contained in the aforementioned verses about the situation of both camps. Allah, exalted be He, delivered Moses and granted him victory because of his truthfulness, prophethood, and faith, and He destroyed Pharaoh for rejecting him. In the same way, He supported Muhammad and those who followed him against the deniers from his people; He aided Noah against those who disbelieved in him; He helped the Messiah against those who denied him; and He gave victory to all the other messengers and their believing followers, as He, the Most High, says:
“Indeed, We will surely help Our messengers and those who believe, both in the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand.” ⦗Ghāfir 40:51⦘ (51)
