Section: The Prophet’s Levy of Jizyah upon the Magians
When the Prophet’s successors, ʿUmar and ʿUthmān—may Allah be pleased with them—conquered Iraq and Khurasan, they imposed jizyah on the Magians (Zoroastrians), just as they had imposed it on the Christians after first inviting them to embrace Islam, following the very call that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had made to them. In like manner, the Prophet himself—peace and blessings be upon him—had levied jizyah on Jews, Christians, and Magians only after summoning them to Allah, the Mighty and Exalted. Indeed, he—peace and blessings be upon him—dispatched al-ʿAlāʾ ibn al-Ḥaḍramī to
[فَصْلٌ: ضَرْبُهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْجِزْيَةَ عَلَى الْمَجُوسِ]
وَلَمَّا فَتَحَ خُلَفَاءُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ الْعِرَاقَ وَخُرَاسَانَ ضَرَبُوا الْجِزْيَةَ عَلَى الْمَجُوسِ، كَمَا ضَرَبُوهَا عَلَى النَّصَارَى بَعْدَ أَنْ دَعَوْهُمْ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ، كَمَا دَعَاهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَكَمَا ضَرَبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْجِزْيَةَ عَلَى الْيَهُودِ وَالنَّصَارَى وَالْمَجُوسِ بَعْدَ أَنْ دَعَاهُمْ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، فَإِنَّهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ الْعَلَاءَ بْنَ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ إِلَى
