“O Messenger of Allah, here is your dinar and here is your sheep.”

He asked, “How did you pull that off?”

I related the incident to him, and he prayed, “O Allah, bless the bargains struck by his right hand.”

The narrator continues: “More than once I have stood in the Kunasah market of Kūfah and turned a profit of 40,000 before even reaching my family.”

Imām Ahmad also records the report, and in one version it says: “Had he purchased mere dust, he would have profited from it.” Al-Bukhārī transmits it through members of his household.
