The narrator of the report said, “He lived to be over eighty years old, yet there was hardly any white in his beard—only a few strands. His face remained bright and never showed a crease until he died.” This was recorded by Imam Ahmad.

Al-Bayhaqi commented, “Its chain of transmission is sound,” and it was also transmitted by al-Tirmidhi, who said:

“The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed his hand over my face and prayed for me.”

ʿAzrah added, “He lived to the age of one hundred and twenty years, and on his head were only a few white hairs.” Al-Tirmidhi further said, “It is a ḥasan (fair) hadith.”

Al-Bukhari stated in his History: “Yaʿqūb ibn Isḥāq narrated to us, from Ḥanzalah ibn Ḥanīfah ibn Ḥidhyām, who said: Ḥidhyām said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I am a man who…’”
