grown exhausted, and I was thinking of letting it go. He said: The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—caught up with me, tapped the camel and prayed for it; it then moved off with a speed it had never shown before.

In another wording he asked me, “What is the matter with your camel?” I replied, “It is ailing.” So the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—stayed behind, urged it on and prayed for it, and it kept trotting at the very front of the herd.

He then said, “How do you find your camel now?” I replied, “Well indeed; your blessing has reached it.” He said, “Then sell it to me…”—and he narrated the rest of the report.

Al-Tirmidhī and others relate that the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—said, “O Allah, answer Saʿd whenever he calls upon You,” and in one wording, “O Allah, respond to his supplication.”
