Allah has answered your supplication and has guided the mother of Abū Hurayrah.’ The Prophet praised Allah and spoke words of goodness.
I then said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, pray that Allah will make me and my mother dear to His believing servants, and make them dear to us.’
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, invoked: ‘O Allah, endear this servant of Yours—meaning Abū Hurayrah—and his mother to Your believing servants, and endear the believers to them.’
From then on, there was no believer whom Allah created who heard about me or saw me without loving me.
In the two Ṣaḥīḥs it is narrated from Anas that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw a trace of yellow dye on ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf and asked, ‘What is this?’ He replied, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I have married a woman.’ He asked, ‘What dower did you give her?’ He answered, ‘The weight of a date-stone in gold.’ He said, ‘May Allah bless you. Give a wedding feast, even if with only one sheep.’
Also in the two Ṣaḥīḥs: When ʿAbd al-Raḥmān arrived in Medina, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, formed a bond of brotherhood between him and Saʿd ibn al-Rabīʿ al-Anṣārī. Saʿd offered to share half of his household and wealth, but ʿAbd al-Raḥmān said to him, ‘May Allah bless you with regard to your family.’
