Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

He continued: They traded two blows. Marḥab’s sword lodged in ʿĀmir’s shield, and when ʿĀmir tried to pull out his own blade it recoiled upon him and severed the akhal vein of his arm, a wound from which he died.

Salama said: I went out with a group of the Prophet’s Companions who were saying, “ʿĀmir’s deeds have come to nothing; he has killed himself.”

I then came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, weeping, and said, “Messenger of Allah, have ʿĀmir’s deeds been nullified?”

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, asked, “Who said that?”

I replied, “Some of your Companions.”

He said, “Whoever said it is lying. Rather, he will receive his reward twice over.”

Both Ṣaḥīḥ collections relate from Anas ibn Mālik that Umm Sulaym said, “Messenger of Allah, your servant Anas—pray to Allah for him.” He replied, “O Allah, increase his wealth and his offspring, and bless him in what You have given him.”

Al-Bukhārī also reports: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, entered the house of Umm Sulaym, and she brought him some dates and clarified butter. He said, “Put your butter back into its skin and your dates into their container.” Then he went to a corner of the house and performed a voluntary prayer, after which he supplicated for Umm Sulaym and the members of her household. Umm Sulaym said, “Messenger of Allah, indeed …”
