Allah then routed Quraysh: some of their nobles were killed, and those destined for captivity were taken captive. In the report of Ibn Abī Ṭalḥah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, it states that Gabriel said to him, “Take a handful of dust.” He took a handful, hurled it at their faces, and there was not a single idolater whose eyes, nose, and mouth were not filled with dust from that very handful, so they turned and fled in disorder.
