Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

Ahmad narrated—Yunus related to us; Hammad ibn Zayd, from al-Muhajir, from Abu l-‘Aliyah, from Abu Hurayrah—who said:

“I came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, with a few dates and said, ‘Pray to Allah to place blessing in them for me.’ He lined them up in front of him and then supplicated. After that he said to me, ‘Put them in your satchel, reach in with your hand, and do not turn it upside down.’

“So from that satchel I set aside such-and-such wasqs in the cause of Allah; we kept eating from it and feeding others, and it never left my waist. But when ‘Uthman was killed, the strap snapped from my side and the satchel fell.”

Al-Tirmidhi also recorded it through ‘Imran ibn Musa al-Qazzaz
