—peace and blessings be upon him—and he asked her about her situation. She repeated to him what she had told us and added that she was a widow responsible for several orphaned children. He ordered that her water-carrying camel be made to kneel; he spat lightly into the two upper openings of the water-skins and then had her camel raised. We, forty parched men, drank from them until we were fully satisfied, filled every large skin, every goatskin canteen, and every flask we carried, and even washed our companion—yet we did not give a single camel any water. All the while the two skins were still on the verge of overflowing.

Then he said, “Bring whatever food you have.” We gathered for her some pieces of bread and a handful of dates, tied them in a bundle, and he said to her, “Take this and feed your children, and know that we have not diminished your water in the least.”

When she returned to her people she said, “I have just met the most extraordinary magician among mankind—or else he is truly a Prophet, as he claims. This and that happened at his hands.” Through that woman Allah, Mighty and Exalted, guided her entire clan: she accepted Islam, and they accepted it as well.
