Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

—Qays, who said: ʿUmar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, would issue the order, and I would write to the governors of the garrison towns regarding the People of the Book: they are to crop their forelocks and to tie kustīj belts around their waists, so that their dress may be distinguished from the attire of the People of the Book.

Abu al-Mundhir and Musʿab ibn al-Miqdam both narrated to us from Sufyan—
