might notice that I was nearby and move farther away. I then sat down, conversing with myself, and when I happened to glance up I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, approaching, while the two trees had already separated and each was standing upright upon its trunk.” He proceeded to relate the remainder of the narration.

Ibn ʿAbbās related:

“A man from the tribe of ʿĀmir came to the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and said, ‘Messenger of Allah, let me see the seal that is between your shoulders, for I am one of the most skilful physicians among the people.’

The Messenger of Allah replied, ‘Shall I not show you a sign instead?’

The man said, ‘Indeed.’

The Prophet looked at a date-palm and said, ‘Call that cluster.’ The cluster came toward him, hopping along until it stood before him.

He then said, ‘Return.’ So it went back.”

صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِقُرْبِي فَيَتَبَاعَدُ، فَجَلَسْتُ أُحَدِّثُ نَفْسِي فَحَانَتْ مِنِّي لَفْتَةٌ، فَإِذَا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُقْبِلًا، وَإِذَا الشَّجَرَتَانِ قَدِ افْتَرَقَتَا، فَقَامَتْ كُلُّ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنْهُمَا عَلَى سَاقٍ» ، وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ. وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: «جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَرِنِي الْخَاتَمَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ كَتِفَيْكَ، فَإِنَّنِي مِنْ أَطَبِّ النَّاسِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَلَا أُرِيكَ آيَةً؟ قَالَ: بَلَى. قَالَ: فَنَظَرَ إِلَى نَخْلَةٍ. فَقَالَ: ادْعُ ذَلِكَ الْعِذْقَ. فَجَاءَهُ يَنْقُزُ حَتَّى قَامَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: ارْجِعْ. فَرَجَعَ» .
