Abu Yaʿla al-Mawsili also transmits this account on the authority of Usama ibn Zayd, may Allah be pleased with him.

Al-Hakim records it in his Sahih, saying, “I travelled with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and saw from him wondrous things,” and he then cited the whole report.

Among its contents is that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to the woman—after he had expelled the devil from her son—“When we return, let us know how he fares.” Al-Darimi relates the same narration as well.

Al-Darimi also reports, from Ibn ʿAbbas:

“A woman brought her son to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, my son is possessed; the seizure comes upon him at our lunch and supper, and he makes a mess of our food.’ The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stroked the boy’s chest and prayed; the child then gave a sharp cry, and something like a black puppy came out of his body, whereupon he was cured.”

Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi likewise narrates, on the authority of Ibn Masʿud, who said, “We were with the Messenger of Allah…"
