Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

of Banū ʿĀmir, reaching them by night. When she heard the dogs barking she asked, “Which watering place is this?” They answered, “The water of Ḥawʾab.” She said, “I do not think I should proceed.” They replied, “Gently—may Allah have mercy on you—go on; the Muslims will see you and Allah will reconcile matters through you.” She repeated, “I do not think I should proceed; I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: ‘What will become of one of you when the dogs of Ḥawʾab bark at her?’”

The same collection also reports from Ibn Abī Ṭālib who said: “ʿAbd Allah ibn Salām said to me, while my foot was already in the stirrup and I was setting out for Iraq, ‘Do not go…’”
