Muslim likewise records—in his Ṣaḥīḥ—on the authority of Jābir ibn Samurah, from Nāfiʿ ibn ʿUtbah, who said: 7466 –
“We were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on a military expedition. A group of people came to the Prophet from the west, dressed in woollen garments. They met him at a rise in the ground; they remained standing while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was seated.
“My own self whispered to me: ‘Go to them and stand between them and him, lest they assassinate him.’ Then I said to myself, ‘Perhaps he is conferring privately with them.’ Still, I went over and placed myself between them and him.
“I retained from him four statements, which I counted on my fingers:
‘You will wage war against the Arabian Peninsula and Allah will grant you its conquest; then against Persia and Allah will grant you its conquest; then you will fight the Byzantines and Allah will grant you their conquest; then you will fight the Antichrist and Allah will grant you victory over him.’”
