In Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim it is related from Abū Zayd ʿAmr ibn Akhṭab who said:
“The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, led us in the dawn prayer. Then he ascended the pulpit and addressed us until the time for noon arrived. He then came down and led us in prayer, ascended the pulpit once more and spoke to us until the time for the afternoon prayer came. He again descended, prayed with us, then climbed the pulpit and continued to preach until the sun had set. He informed us of all that had occurred and all that will occur, and the one among us who retained the most is the most knowledgeable among us.”
And in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī it is narrated from ʿAdī ibn Ḥātim who said:
“While I was with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, a man came to him and complained of poverty, and then another arrived complaining of highway robbery. The Prophet said, ‘O ʿAdī, have you seen al-Ḥīra?’ I replied, ‘I have not seen it, but I have been told about it.’ He said, ‘If you live long enough…’”
