ibn Nabatl, Rifāʿah ibn Tābūt, and others of their stripe. They would say to the Banū al-Naḍīr—the Jews who were their allies:
“If you are driven out, we shall surely leave with you.” ⦗al-Hashr: 11⦘
Allah informed that they would never do so, and events proved Him true. He then likened them to Satan:
“When he says to a human being, ‘Disbelieve,’ and once he has disbelieved he says, ‘I am clear of you; I verily fear Allah, the Lord of all worlds.’” ⦗al-Hashr: 16⦘
Such were the hypocrites and such were the Banū al-Naḍīr.
{لَئِنْ أُخْرِجْتُمْ لَنَخْرُجَنَّ مَعَكُمْ}
{إِذْ قَالَ لِلْإِنْسَانِ اكْفُرْ فَلَمَّا كَفَرَ قَالَ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِنْكَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ اللَّهَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ}
