He also said in Surah al-Fath:
“Allah has promised you abundant spoils that you will take. He has hastened this victory for you and held back people’s hands from harming you, so that it may be a sign for the believers.” ⦗al-Fath: 20⦘
And He said:
“You will certainly enter the Sacred Mosque, if Allah so wills, in security—having shaved your heads or shortened your hair—fearing none. He knew what you did not know, and He ordained before that a victory close at hand.” ⦗al-Fath: 27⦘
And He said:
“Tell those bedouin who stayed behind: you will be called to fight a people of great might; you will fight them unless they surrender. If you obey, Allah will grant you a good reward, but if you turn away as you turned away before, He will punish you with a painful punishment.” ⦗al-Fath: 16⦘
All of this occurred exactly as He foretold: they received plentiful spoils, they entered the Sacred Mosque in safety, and the bedouins were summoned to battle the Byzantines and the Persians—either to fight them or for them to accept Islam. Thus combat or Islam became inevitable; there was no longer any truce without fighting, as had been the case before the revelation of the verse.
