And the Qur’an contains many passages that foretell events yet to come, such as His words, exalted is He:

“Alif–Lām–Mīm. The Romans have been defeated—in the nearest land—but after their defeat they will be victorious within a few years. All authority belongs to Allah, before and after.” (Al-Rūm 1–4)

And indeed, after that, the Romans did vanquish Persia within a few years, as we have already set out in detail. Likewise, He, exalted be He, says:

“Allah has promised those of you who believe and do righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession on the earth just as He granted it to those before them, will surely establish for them the religion He has approved for them, and will surely replace their fear with security.” (Al-Nūr 55)
