the stars by which you navigate; not one of them has fallen. So they stopped, although they had already squandered much of their wealth.

Iblis then said, “A momentous event has taken place on earth. Bring me a handful of soil from every part of it.” Whenever a portion of soil was brought to him, he would smell it; but when the soil of Tihāmah reached him, he exclaimed, “Here is where the event occurred.”

Allah then directed a group of jinn toward him while he—the Prophet—was reciting the Quran. They said,

“Indeed, we have heard a marvelous recitation” (al-Jinn 72:1),

continuing to the end of the verse, they returned to their people as warners.
