—up to His words:

“We reached up to the heaven and found it filled with stern sentries and blazing meteors; we used to sit there in vantage-points to eavesdrop, but whoever now tries to listen finds a shooting star lying in wait for him; and we do not know whether evil has been intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them right guidance.” (al-Jinn 72:8–10)

The Exalted also says:

“It was not the devils who brought it down; it is not proper for them, nor are they able. Indeed, they have been completely cut off from hearing.” (ash-Shuʿarāʾ 26:210–212)

The Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—recited these verses to the people, and they too recited them. No one rejected them, no believer ever doubted them, and no disbeliever used them as an argument against him. This shows that people knew the truth of what the jinn had reported: that the sky had been filled with strict guardians and shooting stars, and that from that point on the jinn could no longer obtain the access to listening they once enjoyed.

It is obvious that this is something people witness with their own eyes, for the sky teeming with meteors is visible to everyone. Were the matter otherwise, people—believer and unbeliever alike—would have denied it, because a large multitude who have not colluded with one another cannot possibly agree upon a lie, jointly affirm what they know to be false, conceal what they know to be true, or refrain from repudiating what they know to be untrue.
