Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

and likewise, in Sūrah al-Qiyāmah:

“I swear by the Day of Resurrection, and I swear by the self-reproaching soul. Does man imagine that We shall not gather his bones? Indeed, We are able even to restore his very fingertips. Yet man wants to burst forth in sin ahead of him; he asks, ‘When will the Day of Resurrection be?’ But when sight is confounded, the moon is eclipsed, and the sun and the moon are brought together, on that Day man will say, ‘Where is the escape?’ No indeed! There is no refuge. To your Lord that Day is the place of rest. On that Day man will be informed of what he sent ahead and what he left behind.” [al-Qiyāmah: 1]

Thus He mentions the Greater Resurrection, and then, at the close of the surah, He says:

“No indeed! When the soul reaches the collarbones and it is said, ‘Who can heal him?’ and he is convinced that it is the parting, and leg is entwined with leg, to your Lord that Day is the driving.” [al-Qiyāmah: 26]

A full exposition of this belongs elsewhere, for the Prophetic texts contain abundant references to the delights and torments that reach the soul when it parts from the body.
