And Moses said:

“Our Lord is He who gave each thing its form and then guided it.” (Qur’an 20:50)

Again, in the very first revelation sent down to Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—it was said:

“Recite in the name of your Lord who created, created man from a clinging clot. Recite, for your Lord is Most Generous, who taught by the pen, taught man what he did not know.” (Qur’an 96:1-5)

The Exalted also said:

“Have We not given him two eyes, a tongue and two lips, and shown him the two high paths?” (Qur’an 90:8-10)

After this shared, innate guidance, the nations nevertheless differ in their recognition of the Creator, exalted is He, and in their admission of the return after death—whether they hold it to be for souls only, for bodies only, or for both together, which is the position of the earliest generations of the Muslim community, their leading scholars, the common believers, and the People of the Sunnah and the Mainstream Community. They also differ in what they praise and deem admirable of deeds and traits, and in what they censure and condemn among them.
