Al-Bukhari and Muslim likewise transmit the following report on the authority of Anas:
“I was walking with the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—who was wrapped in a Najrani cloak with a thick border. A Bedouin caught up with him and yanked at the cloak so violently that I could see the side of the Prophet’s neck where the cloak’s edge had left a mark. The man then said, ‘O Muhammad, order that I be given some of Allah’s wealth that you have with you.’ The Messenger of Allah turned toward him and laughed, then ordered that he be granted a gift.”
Muslim also records, from Jabir ibn Samurah:
“The Messenger of Allah would not rise from the spot where he had prayed until the sun had risen; once it rose, he would stand up. During that interval the Companions would speak about matters from the pre-Islamic days, laughing while he smiled.”
