Muslim likewise relates in his Ṣaḥīḥ, on her authority, that when she was asked about the character of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—she replied, “His character was the Qur’an.”
Abu Dāwūd al-Ṭayālisī also transmits—through Shuʿbah, who reported from Abū Isḥāq, who reported from Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Jadalī—that he said: “I heard ʿĀʾishah, and he asked her about the character of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. She said, ‘He was neither indecent nor deliberately coarse, nor loud in the market-places. He never repaid an evil deed with another evil deed; rather, he would pardon and overlook—or forgive.’” Abu Dāwūd was unsure which wording she used at the end.
