about anything, “Why did you do that?” or “Could you not have done it this way?”

In another narration, likewise found in the two Ṣaḥīḥs, he said:

“I served him in travel and at home, and by Allah he never said to me about anything I had done, ‘Why did you do it like this?’ nor about anything I had left undone, ‘Why did you not do it like that?’ He was the finest of all people in character.”

In the two Ṣaḥīḥs it is also related from Jābir who said:

“The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, never said ‘No’ when asked for anything.”

And in the two Ṣaḥīḥs it is narrated from Anas who said:

“The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was never asked for anything for the sake of Islam without giving it. A man once came to him, and he gave him…”
