Whoever confines the proofs of Prophethood to a single form is in error; in reality they are of many varieties.
The signs (āyāt) themselves fall into two principal categories:

Those that have already occurred and are known to us by reliable transmission, such as the miracles of Moses and Jesus.

Those that remain until today—for example, the Quran, which is among the greatest evidences of the Prophethood of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace; the knowledge and faith found in his followers, for these too testify to his Prophethood; the sacred law he brought, which likewise constitutes a sign of his Prophethood; and the wonders that Allah continues to manifest, time after time, through the honorific marvels (karāmāt) granted to the righteous of his community, together with the actual occurrence of events he foretold.
Among his predictions are his words:
“The Hour will not come until you fight the Turks,”
and his words:
“The Hour will not come until a fire erupts from the land of Ḥijāz whose glow will illuminate the necks of the camels in Busra.”
That fire did indeed break out in the year 655 AH, and the people of Busra saw the necks of their camels lit up by its glow.
