Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

“Who could be more unjust than one who conceals a testimony he has received from Allah?” ⦗al-Baqarah 2:140⦘

Allah’s witness is also borne by His actions: the signs and proofs He brings into being that attest to the veracity of His messengers. Through these He confirmed what they reported from Him and testified that they were truthful.

The Quran itself is the speech of Allah, and within it lies His testimony to everything the Messenger has conveyed. Its very revelation to Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and Muhammad’s presenting it to humanity constitute a sign and an irrefutable proof, for this is an act of Allah; human beings are incapable of producing anything comparable. No prophet, saint, sorcerer, or anyone else can match it, as the Exalted says:

“Say: If mankind and the jinn were to band together to produce the like of this Quran, they would never produce its like, even if they aided one another with all their might.” ⦗al-Isrāʾ 17:88⦘

Muhammad proclaimed this at the very beginning of his mission, for this verse is found in the surah that opens with “Subḥān” (al-Isrāʾ), a Meccan revelation.
