Chapter: The Manifest Clarity, Variety, and Abundance of the Signs of Prophethood

Since Muḥammad—may Allah grant him blessings and peace—was sent as a messenger to both realms, the jinn and humankind, to Arabs and non-Arabs alike, and since he is the Seal of the Prophets—no prophet will come after him—it was part of Allah’s favor to His servants and a completion of His proof against His creation that the signs of his prophethood and the evidences of his mission be made recognizable to all the peoples to whom he was sent. Yet it may be that one group possesses certain signs and proofs of his prophethood that another group does not.

To each people he brought forth both inward (personal) and outward (cosmic) signs demonstrating that the Quran is the truth, as the Exalted says:

“Say, ‘Tell me: if it is truly from Allah and you then deny it, who is more astray than one sunk in deep dissension? We shall show them Our signs on the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the Truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is witness over all things?’” (Fussilat 41:52–53).

He—glorified be He—has informed that He will show His servants the signs within themselves and upon the horizons until it becomes evident to them that the Quran is true, for the pronoun refers back to it, since it is—
